Samba is an old Brazilian
style with many variation. But, the truth
is Samba came from Africa through the African that emigrated to Brazil. Since
1935,Samba is one of the most popular music and dance styles ever and became a
folk dance in Brazil. Samba has been evolved in Rio de Janeiro and grew to
become the quintessential music and dance associated with Rio’s carnival. This
dance has circled the globe as one of the most infectious and popular styles
from the South American continent with its rich and synnocated rhythm and its
often voluptuous dance moves.
The word “Samba” actually
come from the Kimbudu (Angolan) term Semba
that referred to an “invitation to
dance”. Its also a common appellation for the dance parties that held by
slaves and former slaves in the rural areas of Rio.
Samba has a very specific
ryhthm, highlighted to its best by characteristic Brazilian musical instruments
such as tamborin,chocalno,reco-reco and
cabaca. Samba music normally based on daily life in Rio, and the first
famous example being “Pelo Telefone”
composed by Donga. To show the truth character of samba, a dancer should show a
happy, flirtatious and exuberant interpretation. Today, require a pelvic tilt (Samba tic) action used in the samba
dance. This action actually difficult to accomplish but without it the dance
will lose much of its effect.
Not like other dance, such
as salsa and tango which needs a partner to dance. Samba can be do by
individual. Before Samba became a ballroom dance style, there were many styles of partner dances as well as solo Samba dances. Samba dance is often reffered to as highlighting the aura of
sexiness. Samba has undergone many transformations of incorporated elaborate tricks, turns, and acrobatic feats into its basic set of figures. The main character of the Samba are rapid steps taken on quarter beats and a rocking, swaying motion of the dancers. Furthermore, this dance also could burn the calories in our body. The samba dance will make all part of our
body move and could increase the heartbeat. One of the samba instructor used to said, when we danced samba it will burn the calories as we walk for one hour.
Its also could release stress.
